A way to escape * character
Sometimes when I’m writing in my journal I like to add footnotes with a *, this does not seem possible since it will always parse it as a to-do item.

``` `*` footnote ``` is escaping it or \*, but can you show us some example of what you are doing?
I also use - for tasks and not * because it's more available, no shift key needed to access it. The character is still blocked for other uses because it is changed into a bullet and makes a list.
