Appearance of various statuses of todos does not resemble the markdown needed to achieve them nor the context menu

(macOS 12.1, NotePlan 3.4) To mark a to-do as completed the markdown includes an X but the rendered todo includes a check. To mark a to-do as canceled the markdown includes a hyphen but the rendered todo includes an X. Sure, one can learn to do this all right, but it's a little weird that it's so inconsistent. And with the recent article that mentions bullet journaling, where X is used for task completion, the disconnect is apparent.
