Autocapitalize new list items

On iOS, when I’m writing a list and I hit enter to move to a new line, the start of the new line isn’t capitalized. It would be great if it could be, as I often forget to press shift, and then I have to back up and retype to keep my list looking neat.

Eduard Metzger: I sure hope this is a pref setting!

Mike Erickson: Oh, no, I haven’t added a new setting for this. But this is the default behavior normally, just not in NotePlan. Why would you want to have a preference for that?

Eduard Metzger: well, I guess I am “spoiled” as they say it currently works in NotePlan is my preferred method. I don’t like anything auto capitalized (and that feature is disabled in settings for me) I gave up Pascal moons ago when I moved to c/c++ and haven’t looked back. No Pascal casing for me 😊 So, my desire would be to at least have a setting as to not force the auto capitalization But, if you’ve already changed it, so be it. I will be happy to trade it for alert, confirm and prompt dialogs in plugin API 😂

Mike Erickson: Just checked, it follows the system preferences in the keyboard settings on iOS. When I turn off "auto-capitalization" there, it also doesn't do what NotePlan tells it to do :D, so we are good.

Eduard Metzger: perfect!!

The problem so far has been that Apple is not giving a simple option to press the shift key in their API. So I'm a bit stuck on this.

If you implement this, PLEASE make it an option. I really like my list items not capitalized.

tf: I totally agree! I hate auto capitalizing anything. As a software developer by trade, I never want things Pascaled for me. So, please make it a pref setting
