Thanks for the tips!
You can also check out the Apple Dark theme, there the canceled task is crossed out. You can copy the style from this theme if you like to a new theme.
Eduard Metzger: I finally got around to testing this out. The custom themes don’t appear to be selectable when using CloudKit syncing on iOS/iPad OS. A workaround is to convert to Cloud Drive, select the custom theme and switch back to CloudKit. But you won’t be able to select another custom theme again without going back to Cloud Drive temporarily. Edit: OK, the workaround only lasts while Noteplan is in memory. When it’s relaunched it switches back to the default Orange theme and the custom themes are unavailable. So it appears on iOS you have to choose between custom themes or CloudKit syncing. Can’t have both :(
Eduard Metzger: Would it be reasonable to request a checkbox in the preferences along the lines of “cancelled items are crossed out” so that users don’t have to resort to custom themes (and for iOS, have to forgo CloudKit) for what I would suspect is a pretty common desire.
Mushy Roomy: It should work with iCloud Drive and CloudKit. Just make sure you download the theme on Mac once, and it should sync over to iOS. Or place the theme file into the Themes folder using the Files app. But I’ll check if I move the improvements from the Apple Dark theme to the other themes.
Eduard Metzger: Eduard Metzger: I made sure the custom theme was in Files. When I switch to CloudKit syncing the custom themes are not available in preferences. When I switch to iCloud Drive, they are. First pic is with CloudKit. Second is with iCloud Drive.
But if you could simply add strikethrough for other themes I would personally be happy with that. I’m perfectly happy with the stock themes besides this one missing thing.
Mushy Roomy: Just checked on my side, I can see custom themes and I’m using CloudKit. Did you move the theme files into the CloudKit folder? It’s a different one from the iCloud Drive folder. You need to navigate to “On my iPad”, then NotePlan/Themes (I can’t see this in the screenshot).
Eduard Metzger: Ah, thanks that was it 🙈 So sorry for the trouble.
I've done this by customizing my theme. I apply strikethrough to all cancelled tasks and change the color: "checked-canceled": { "regex": "(^\\h*[\\*\\-]{1} |^\\h*[0-9]+[\\.\\)] )(\\[\\-\\] )(.*)", "color": "#C4DBE0", "matchPosition": 0, "headIndent": 33, "strikethroughStyle": 1 },
I like the current lighter shade of grey. Strikeouts draw more attention to themselves
