Using Markdown syntax for ==highlighted text== would be a welcomed addition for research purposes

Exists in [custom themes](https://github.com/brokosz/NotePlan_Themes).

This can be already done with custom themes. Eventually, I'll add it back to the default themes but check out [Themes](https://github.com/brokosz/NotePlan_Themes) under "bin". I recommend to download all. Most of them support `::highlight::`. You can modify the theme, so it uses `==highlight==`. See the [documentation](http://noteplan.co/createcustomthemes) if you need help. I'm closing this request for now?

Eduard Metzger: Thank you! Discovered themes this morning and rockin' highlights :)

ShandeN: Awesome! In the documentation I have also covered strikethrough, underline and more! Let me know if you have new ideas for markdown, which we could add.

Eduard Metzger: Found those too 😀 thank you! My only request for markdown syntax is the ability to use it easily, within the app (macOS and iOS) without manually adding the syntax (highlights, underline and strike-through) -- so a in-built app function would be very useful (especially on iOS) Also, it would be a great benefit to include CommonMark for footnotes. I realize NotePlan "isn't an authoring app like Ulysess or iA Writer -- but it is a Zettelkasten app and I use NotePlan for academic research which might contain footnotes, and it would be a very welcomed addition if NotePlan could interpret these 👍
