@mentions and #tags as notes

I'd love to be able to add text to the @mention/#hashtag pages, as if they were project notes. The clearest use case would be to turn the @mention system into a mini-CRM by annotating each with context, contact information, etc. Use cases are a little less clear to me for #tags, as they could just be project notes with references and backlinks.

Because @mentions and @tags cannot themselves store any data, I am using notes for everything and hiding the empty @mentions and #tags lists in the sidebar (although they keep unhiding). I would be exceedingly happy if I could retain the flexibility of using notes (“entity” notes for people, businesses, and organizations; “location,” “topic,” “item,” and “status” notes for tags) but *also* have the ability to refer to them with `@` or `#` prefixes, as appropriate.

This would be great. A lot of my @mentions correspond with a running doc I keep of meeting notes with that person. I add the same @mention to that running doc to cross link, but it would be nicer to just have an authoritative place where I can also take meeting notes

Yes, this would be great. I don't see much use for @mentions in particular if they don't link to a page about that person. For now, I use [[name]] instead In Obsidian, the requested feature for tags is called "tag pages" and provided by the Tag Wrangler plugin: https://github.com/pjeby/tag-wrangler#tag-pages

I like this. I'm using notes as mentions for this reason. It would be great to be able to add content to a @mention, like small CRM. And also have a backlink section where you can see all notes where this "person" was mentioned. I don't know how it applies to a #tag, but probably can work the same way. If you can add some metadata to a tag.

Thanks for sharing this. That's an interesting idea. So each tag would be its own note? And what could NotePlan do to surface this information, because right now you could also create a note with the same name as the hashtag and would have almost the same structure?

Eduard Metzger: Like I mentioned, the use cases for #tags are less clear for that very reason. Stretching a bit: documenting for yourself exactly what a tag means, or how to use it. It's more compelling for `@mentions`, as you can get basic CRM-type functionality out of NotePlan.

Eduard Metzger: I think of @mentions as distinct from general notes, because they are meant to represent a person. I'd like to be able to link an @mention to the card I have for that person in Contacts, for example. Clicking on an @mention in a note could then offer the option to message or send email to the person, in addition to navigating to the @mention search.

Eduard Metzger: on this topic and for inspiration Tana app is based on « supertags ». Each supertag contains different customizable fields and could also be related to other supertag so information and notes become interconnected. Here is a lin. Scroll down and there is a video from CotexFutura about it. https://talk.tiddlywiki.org/t/tana-a-new-note-taking-and-gra…
