Paste behavior into markdown links destroys the link and messes up undo
NotePlan 3.21.3 on MacOS 27.0.1, though this has been a problem for a long while.
Pasting text into the bracketed text portion of a markdown link
[text](URL)
tends to destroy the URL. Undo does not fix things – the paste is undone but not the destruction.
Try it yourself:
1. Create a note containing a markdown link, a la
[text](https://example.com)
2. Copy some text from outside of NotePlan
3. Select just the "text" portion of the markdown link, not including any brackets
4. Paste via cmd-v
5. Note that the URL portion of the markdown link is lost, a la
[new text]()
6. Hit Undo via cmd-z
7. Note that the undo is incomplete – the URL is not restored, and the pasted text is removed but the prior text is not restored, a la
[]()
Note that
1. a "paste without formatting" via shift-cmd-v in step 4 does not cause this problem.
2. a paste of text copied from within NotePlan does not cause this problem.
Related suggestion: it'd be nice if putting the insertion point in the Arens would expand the URL for review and editing.
