Jonathan Clark: For me it would be to have more than one note assigned to a certain date. So an indicator in the calendar and a date within in the note. Maybe even with a list of notes from a particular day, when selected in the calendar.
Markus Kin: You could create a workaround by adding a date to a note anywhere. Then it appears on that day as a reference. But I see your point, just wondering if its good to add it to the references, maybe as a collapsed item? Or it could be part of the command bar. Right now if you don't type anything, it shows a list of recently edited notes. It could also show through a special command the recently edited or created notes for the current daily note? Just thinking of some options!
Jonathan Clark: Sounds like we need an onNoteEdited hook to realize this one with a plugin. NotePlan is also currently not collecting this kind of information.
Eduard Metzger: A dedicated option would be more natural. Typing a date somewhere may get confusing for notes with multiple mentions of dates. Command bar shortcuts don't seem to be right for choosing a date, you need to remember a lot of shortcuts already if you are a plugin user and having a modal for the command bar and another one for the calendar after typing the shortcut seems too much. The regular option on the other hand could just have something like an option in the settings (just a checkbox "assign date to project notes") in the settings so that today date shows up in the corner of a note, if that date is clicked, a calendar could be displayed to choose a different date for the note. I see, that this is not done quickly, but it would help organising even journaling. Especially if you have multiple (short) notes per day. With the click on a calendar date all notes for that day from different folders can be displayed. Which brings me to the sidebar, where it would be helpful to have a second sidebar for alle the notes in a folder to quickly scroll through. Because at some point that expanding folder structure in one sidebar makes navigating tiresome. If you have hundreds of notes in a folder and not sorting option, which a second sidebar would give. Anyway dates for notes would be awesome.
May I ask why? This is a means to what end? Depending on your answer it might be possible to approximate it with a plugin.
