Timeblock ignores font from themes

The new timeblock feature is alright, but it completely uglifies the theme I've spent months tweaking. I see there's a way to change the color of the `time-block` text in the new docs, but it only shows in an ugly, fixed-width font, and I don't see a way to override that in the theme. Any help? Or a way to toggle this feature on/off? I'd rather lose it than have to stare at the horror. 🤣
