Sometimes I create a new note to jot down something on my phone and then can't find it again in the sidebar because I can't remember what I titled it. It would be great to be able to show recent notes within a folder at the top (but also have the ability to short alphabetically as it is now)

Design a mechanism that allows to specify when a task is due, as opposed to when a task is scheduled to be done. Example: Mika's birthday is on July 1st. On that day I want to show up on Mika's doorstep with a present. The due date for getting that present is July 1st. But the do date might be February 3rd or June 29th, because that's when I have time to get the present. Edit: A better name for this feature might be Deadlines (see comments below). Edit: Consider adding a separate backlink item for "due soon..." items that shows them x days before the due date. How are other apps dealing with this? Edit: Consider using !date syntax for deadlines/due dates.

Also called Transcluding. Benefits of this are being able to display a number of atomised notes within a single parent note - and any changes made to the child note will be reflected wherever it is embedded, so no duplicate information or out-of-date copies etc. Other applications that support this have done so by modifying the wiki-link syntax similar to an image embed. ![[embedded note]] Edit from below: If block-referencing and heading references are supported this would be even more powerful. ![[embedded note#heading]] or ![[embedded note^block-reference]]

It would be great to be able to do this so it doesn’t show up other places for open or overdue tasks.

Change which name NotePlan should use to reference notes: Filename or First-line (=note name). At the moment it uses the first line of the note as a reference. This is used in [[links]], as names in the sidebar, command bar, search results, etc. To make it work better with other apps like Obsidian, give the option to change this. Similarly, days are linked using the ISO format YYYY-MM-DD , but the filenames are YYYYMMDD (pointed out on Discord ). One more idea: Instead of either/or, rather use checkboxes to add a recognition format. So that we can work with note titles and filenames**.

Task status formatting standardization suggestion. The help and user guides says that # indicates a tag and @ is a mention (though of course both are searchable and could be used however one wants.) But, Noteplan, in the preferences, has a setting to use "@done" + the date to indicate a task is completed which is applied along with a change to the task icon from an empty circle to a checkmark in a circle. So from a built in use of tagging standpoint, NP defaults to the @ symbol as an indicator of the state of a task, albeit only for the completion status admittedly. So at present we have a task icon change and an "@" tag added to a task when it is completed. But when it is marked as cancelled, while the icon is changed to an X in a circle, no "@cancelled" tag is added and also no date, so one can't see when they cancelled it without manually adding the date and time. There is also no "@waiting" nor "@hold" tag nor an icon for the task indicator for these statuses and no way to know for how long one has been waiting or on hold without manually adding dates. So my point is that it would be nice IMO if NP standardized on a combination of BOTH a task icon change AND an "@" tag symbol for task status so that one could easily filter by open tasks (active, waiting, and on hold) based on these @ tags and they would be internally consistent within the app by using @. So for example: Active task: icon = open circle; Markdown = * [ ]; @ tag = nothing Completed task: icon = circle with X; Markdown = * [x]; @ tag = "@done(YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM) (same as now!) Active task but waiting on something or someone: icon = circle with something for waiting (W or hourglass, or open palm hand, etc); Markdown = * [w]; @ tag = "@waiting(YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM)" Task on hold: icon = circle with something for holding (H or hands holding); Markdown = * [H]; @ tag = "@on_hold(YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM)" And just as with the current situation with the completed indicator, if the task's status is changed from waiting or on hold to cancelled or completed, both the icon and the @ tag would change and the date and time updated to the current time.

Add a plugin which allows you to visually display tasks from a note in a Kanban style board. For example, you could have headers labeled ##Planned, ##In Progress, ##Done. If you opened that note in a Kanban Board, you would be able to drag/drop tasks in a horizontal format instead of a vertical note format.

It would be great if one could forward any email to some NotePlan address and NotePlan would recognize the sender and create a note from that email. --- This could be a command bar plugin at first. We would need some script and configuration file with the email credentials and a way to download emails, then scan for "send to noteplan" flags and pull the body out, saving it into an inbox folder in NotePlan.
