Can't keep one references panel open while another is closed or vice-versa

(macOS 12.1, NotePlan 3.3.1) I often find that keeping the references panel open in my daily note is helpful, but in other notes it can be long and in the way. So I like to close it in other notes. But doing so causes the panel to be closed in the daily note. Opening it again causes it to open in the other notes. this is not desirable.

Just noticed this too. The reference area toggle was originally designed to work with one note, then we had windows and split views. Need to change this so it works across multiple notes.

I've attached a screenshot of what I'd like to be able to do. In this the references pane for the daily note is open, and for the other note it is closed. But if you close one, the other will close shortly after. It's not helpful.
